Hello RussianBredan,

I have exactly the same collecting pattern as you, except that I have to limit myself to BP military firearms since I am only allowed a maximum of 5 nitro firearms to play with (I do have a Berthier M16 and Enfield No4).

Enjoy this great little community :

Welcome to the board, RussianBerdan.
Your english is OK, I

think that most of us use a somewhat odd english language. Luckily, the interest for these old guns has no language barrier:-)
Best når det smeller!

RussianBerdan

Well thankyou Fabian23. Well in Italy we are more luky: no limitation numbers
for hunting rifles ( and in this category are all the model of military rifles made after 1890), maximum 8 hitorical and old weapons ( model made before 1890), 3 short guns and 6 sporting ones. You can ask for a collection permissions of each category with limitations and you can have more but is proibited to use them. My swiss friends are more luky:-D

I think that you have a Beaumont in your collection is true?

Well those are the dimesion of the 11x52R Beauomont M78

F.C Barnes book and from the italian Pierangelo Caitis' book

cartridge length 64,53mm
Case length 51,82mm
bullet length 24,46mm
bullet diameter 11,61mm (.457)
neck diameter 12,31mm
shoulder diameter 13,40mm
base diameter 14,65mm
rim diameter 16,9mm
Powder 60grains
bullet weight 345 grains
Velocity 450 m/sec ( 1476 f/sec)

I have used case made from 50-95 Winchester, .470 Nitro xpress and original

Beltram. CH4D Dies.
Bullet mould

Lyman 457124 ( 385 grains) and Lyman 457193 (405 grains) .458 large bullets and lynotype standard composition.
No papper patched because i prefere to cast more larg bullets then use peppe.
Swiss N3 Powder and Vectan Mosquette in 50 grains in ampty space cardboard disch and cotton.

Best results with Beltram and 50-95 winchester case with Swiss N°3 at distance of 100 meteres.

Thanks.
My hobby is to collect european military rifles during

paperpatched era 1870....1885.
I am shooting all of them.
I use paperpatched bullets and reason is to avoid leding in the barrel.
I have not found

if paperpatched bullets have used in beaumont vitali.
Do anyone have any info of this.

Ah, a question for you then.... When paper patching hollow based bullets it is easy to tuck the paper into the hollow, but what about flat based bullets?  Is the shrinkage of the paper when dry enough to clamp into the bullet?

I have a M71 Mauser cavalry carbine and a M74/80 Gras artillery carbine which both used patched 11mm bullets, I want to use a flat based bullet.

Thanks in advance!

This is from Paul Matthews book The paper Jacket.
I do have Mauser M 1871-84

Unpatched led bullet i use 11.0 mm + 2 x paper 0.06 mm.
Paper is wet during wrapping I get bullet dry in oven temperature 120

degree celsius.
Hope this help you

Yup, I know to patch,

but I have only done hollow based bullets.  I was just wondering for a plat based bullet if the paper stops just at the base of the bullet or if it is folded

round onto the base of the bullet and pressed flat...:-|
