is it ok to use saddle soup for lubing your patch and ball.
Try
I am testing a mixture of beeswax and crisco (cooking fat). So far no problems. Using it on Uberti 1858 Remington and Colt navy. Using ball .451. Will try on T/C .45 mz.

I always had good success with "Emmert's lube":
1/3 bees wax
1/3 Crisco
1/3 Canola oil/Olive oil
but improved it with about 5% anhydr. Lanolin
and about 8% Lyman Alox 50/50
performs well in hot and cold weather.
Give it a try

Sorry,
thought you were talking about lube for bullets in black powder cartridge guns.
Here is what I use as patch lube for round balls:
1/3 water soluble oil
1/3 Murphy's oil soap
1/3 water (in winter time windshield washing fluids)
In revolvers, above the bullets:
White Lithium Grease
