I have come across what I think is one of the first batch of Remington made RB rifles for Sweden (and Norway?).  It has the standard US Remington curved butt plate and conical end cap.  The right side of the receiver is dated 1867 and the left side with a four digit serial number repeated on the left of the barrel just above the wood line.  The roller pins are fixed with locking screws.  My only doubt is the rear right, it seems shorter than the later Swedish made ones:

What do you think?

Probably a Swede, but difficult to say without more pictures. The sight settings in alen has been erased and replaced with metric settings. The Swedes purchased about 10 000 rifles and 20 000 actions from the Remington factory before they started making their own, and this one may be one of the 10 000.

:ok:

If it is one of the 10,000, what is it worth?  Bore and chamber are said to be good with a few rusty patches.

Hello Fabien,
The Remington 1867 had a buttplate with a tang and one screw on the top of the buttstock. Your forestock looks correct, it should have three bands and the front band further back than other models. Although most of the receivers had a button retainer plate some did have the moon locking screws like yours. It is hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the breech block was replaced with one from a 67/89 rolling block, possibly when someone wanted to use center-fire cartridges in it? The barrel length should be 950mm and the rear sight should be approximately 70mm in front of the receiver.

Have enquired about lengths.  Is cited at centerfire.  The block has a long "ear".

Take a look at this recent thread about a similar rifle on the Norwegian forum. That rifle is identified as  a Swedish Model 1867 made in America. Looks similar to the one pictured here (except for the long eared block). Here is a Google translated version.

The others have what I would call a "standard" sight with the tip of the ladder fitting between the sides of the sight base, but this one in the first picture has a very wide tip on the sight ladder which rests on a step cut into the front of the sight base.  Is this a service modification?
