Identifisering / Re: Hans Larsen?

I can offer some information on the barrel markings:

"Johs. Gudim" is short for Johannes Gudim Johannesen Revaug.
"STAAL" is an older Norwegian spelling of "stål" = STEEL.
"FREDRIKSSTAD" is likewise an older spelling of the city of FREDRIKSTAD.

He was born June 30th. 1865 in Revaug, Askim, in southeastern Norway.
He moved to the city of Fredrikstad in 1890 and worked as a bank-clerk and gunsmith.
He died on October 16th. 1945 in Fredrikstad.

Wether Gudim made parts of your rifle (for instance the stock) or just re-sold a complete rifle that he ordered from Hans Larsen is hard to determine.

It was quite common for Norwegian gunsmiths to mark imported guns with their own name and hometown for marketing purposes.  The guns were mainly manufactured in Belgium and Germany.  Hans Larsen operated a factory of his own in Liege, Belgium for a number of years.

Does your gun have any additional proofmarks hidden under the forearm?

This link has a black & white photo of Johs. Gudim from 1932 on page 5.  He's the gent with the white beard.

Thank ya, 50 bmg for the link. Are there that many variations or just individual ones made to order? I can't seem to find anyone on this side of the pond that is familiar with one.

Det som kanskje er enda rarere, er at den ble perkusjonert 140-150 år etter den ble lagd.
Tyder vel på en børse av god kvalitet, som ble brukt av mange generasjoner.

I have a rifle that I'm trying to ID. It seems to be a Hans Larsen in 10.15x61 Jarrman. It shoots fantastic. I can find very little info on his rifles. An outstanding gunsmith and International Shooting Champion.

  Thanks

Tusen takk for informasjon!
